rockren
Kyle Long....early here. Kromer wants someone to mold into a Pro Bowl player. Too early.....but he's Howie's youngest and he's a monster of a man. I'll live with it.
adam
They could have easily traded back to get this kid in the 2nd round. That is pure speculation. I am sure Pugh going at 19 made them pull the trigger.
scs787
Hopefully his NFL career goes better than his MLB career...He was in the White Sox farm system for those who didn't know.
adam
All I can say is I would take Kyle Long any day over Manti Teo. So that alone is a success for me.
killakrzydav
Thats his second mega reach in the first rd. McC and now Long. At least we didnt pick catfish
Ed Hochuli 3:16
How does Emery not take Sharrif Floyd?
Stinger226
wow, how about that for a suprise this is bad with Floyd , Williams, and Eifert on the board.
Bears4Ever_34
That is pure speculation. I am sure Pugh going at 19 made them pull the trigger. Long didn't belong in the 1st round, period.
Pixote
I am sure they would have traded back if they could have. The way OL was being hit hard I am sure they felt they needed to take a good prospect now or when they selected in the 2nd there would not be anything left. We needed the upgrade. jason
Too early says who? All the experts? Well, ISN'T EMERY AN EXPERT?! Great pick. OL finally gets some attention. Cutler is smiling. Forte is happy. Carimi is a bit nervous.
s720
They could have easily traded back to get this kid in the 2nd round. F*** the pick and Emery! What a terrible and wasteful pick! Can't believe they passed Tyler Eifert or Sharrif Floyd.
jason
this is bad with Floyd , Williams, and Eifert on the board. Not when those needs are lower. Pure BPA is just not a good strategy. Weaknesses have to be addressed. Period.
killakrzydav
Long may have been available when we picked in the fourth rd. I'm shocked he passed on Floyd
bradjock
Thats his second mega reach in the first rd. McC and now Long. At least we didnt pick catfish Terrible. Absolutely terrible. You don't draft a guard in the first round. You sure as hell don't reach for a damn guard in the first round. WTF? Great pick at #50. Terrible pick at #20. Terrible. And the Bengals took Tyler Eifert . . .
AZ54
I would like to think he's our RT of the future but for sure he's starting out at OG. Doesn't say much for what the staff thinks of Carimi IMO.
Bears4Ever_34
I should just not ever watch the Bears pick in the 1st round anymore, because 90% of the time, it's a bad pick. Now Atlanta trades up in the draft... Jesus Christ Emery. You had Eiffert, Ogletree, Brown, Te'o, Floyd and you went with another developmental project?! scs787
Would have much rather reached for Warford if they wanted to reach. I guess his versatility to potentially move to RT (something he has very little experience with) is a plus.
dawhizz
I don't necessarily love the pick, but considering how fast OL prospects were coming off the board, the Bears couldn't feel comfortable that a guy they would want would be there in the 2nd, and they don't have a third. If you wanted OL addressed in this draft (and most did), and the Bears really didn't have any suitors to trade down, I don't see how this is a "terrible" pick. GrizzlyBear
well its pretty obvious that ogletree was the culprit that destroyed that hotel room, They said on NFL network that his character was in question. Teo its obvious what his problems was, So lets go0 to next greatest need, DT I dont undertstand this pick. Floyd should have been obvious, But long at starting guard Means Carimi or scott will be our swing tackle, Brown maybe eligable for PS. But there will be a release of one those 2. Maybe a trade. But its telling on how bad our line really was.
jason
Eifert would have been a worse pick. A backup TE in the first? Gimme a F'n break.
rockren
How does Emery not take Sharrif Floyd? I agree- I think he blew it. Maybe there is something Floyd that we don't know about....we weren't the only team to pass.
