Cliff is really an efficient dude, great to see these signings. Also, I am surprised that Washington signed so quick because I know he was upset that he fell that far, and sometimes guys like that want more money based on where they were projected.

Can teams even pay players over slot anymore?

Technically yes, but it comes in the form of a signing bonus which I believe is one of the only negotiable items in a rookie contract. Once drafted they don't have as much leverage anymore, that is why the draft position is more important now than it was under the old CBA.

Cliff Stein will eventually start signing players before they are even drafted, he is that good.

The other thing they negotiate is offset language in case player is cut and signed by another team but yeah now days rooks have no leverage

Stein has an outstanding track record signing pick.Off the top of my head I can't remember many holdouts under his tenure. Benson and Chris Williams come to mind. I'm not sure on Williams.

It is refreashing that now some of these rookies have to earn their money instead of being paid on potential.

Yeah I love that part of the new CBA. But it killed the RBs basically

More great news, the last two are Long and Bostic which will hopefully sign by the weekend.

Since both were taken before where they had been projected it may not take much time. If I can remember what has happened recently I believe Long may sign before Bostic.
