CrackerDog
Are you sure it's with the Bears? I'd love to have him back. His tweat isn't specific.
GakMan23
Are you sure it's with the Bears? I'd love to have him back. His tweat isn't specific. Teams can't sign free agents from other teams until March 11th. So based on that I would assume it has to involve the Bears
DABEARSDABOMB
It either has nothing to do with his contract or it is him signing with the Bears. No one else can sign him. I truly hope it is an extension because i Love Peanut. He is a true leader and the epitome of a high character individual that plays in the NFL. Oh and he's still a very good football player. I hope he moves to FS but I don't want him to play a game anywhere else. Tillman is 100 times the man that Urlacher is/was.
GakMan23
ESPNchicago says to check back on their site at 2pm for some big announcement, but who knows what that's in regards to or which team sport it involves.
Daventry
I love Peanut and wish nothing more than for him to retire a Bear...he is my next jersey buy! I am sure at the very least he can play safety for us, and I believe he has another year or two of CB possibly as well....
scs787
Before reading up on things, his signing would tell me that they're sticking with a 4-3....BUT... I have read that you can indeed run cover 2 coverages out of a 3-4 defense so that throws everything out the window with that logic. I still really wish he'd convert to FS, and can't understand why he wouldn't want to. He would have the opportunity to be around the ball so much more and thus have more opportunities to create turnovers.

As to his switching to safety, I'd agree the fit is probably better but along with being in on more action, he'd be more susceptible to injury, one would think. scs787
Charles Tillman @peanuttillman 10 Jan I just saved 15% on my car insurance. I'm so excited, just thought I should share this with y'all. Lol! I think he's just messing with us with that tweet and still has real news to announce, but who knows. DABEARSDABOMB
That was my thoughts. However, I think the ESPNChicago tweet has more to do with changes to their radio station vs. chicago sports news but I could be wrong.

I don't see ESPN breaking anything before a Chicago news agency has already released it.
ASHKUM BEAR
Peanut was on the Score last night with Holmes and when asked about his future with the Bears, he said he guarantees he will retire as a Bear. He said he talks to the front office everyday and is very close to them. This says two things....he is close to a contract extension or he plans on retiring. He doesnt have a contract, so it cant be an extension. That would be under a new contract. He wasnt definite, but prospects sound good that they are discussing a new contract. I would say a 2 year 13 deal might get it done. We have the TB lovie thing to interfere now to drive up the price. He wont work for less than Jennings signed for. His skills have diminished but still a TO machine we need to have in the backfield. IF we resign him, I would say CB wont be addressed until middle rounds. 4 or 5. that gives us 1 and 2 for DT and DE, FS or SS . I would say these would be our 1st 4 picks. Remember after he's done he can sign a 1 day contract with us therefore he technically would be retiring as a bear. Though i want to see a 2 yr deal
madlithuanian
Either or of those makes me happy. If he can play, I'd really like it with us. If he can't, he is a Bear dammit. I know it's popular to rag on Urlacher because he didn't take the low-ball offer from the Bears, but "Tillman is 100 times the man that Urlacher is/was"? That's just stupid. Without Urlacher by his side all those years, Charles Tillman is in a drastically different situation. He unequivocally would have been on worse defenses (we learned that each time Urlacher went down, and once more this past season he was sorely missed), would not have had as many opportunities to do what he does best (because he would have had to help make up for the inability of the MLB to do what Urlacher was able to do, what virtually no MLB his size was/is able to do), and probably never becomes the player he is today. If he was such a leader his presence would have been felt more when Urlacher went down with injury or when he left. I'm ecstatic if Peanut resigns, but to trash Urlacher is inappropriate. I don't buy the whole 1 day contract thing so I agree with your last line. I don't think he can hang in man 2 man but he can no doubt still hang in cover 2, or something similar. Gotta fix the pass rush though, cover 2 get exploited when the QB has a ton of time to throw.

Off the field, Urlacher has never been much of a man. He's a pretty classless individual when compared to Tillman. To me, what a guy does off the field matters. And I'm not saying Urlacher is some skum bag or something but Tillman really is a tremendous role model and I'd want my children to look up to him. I wouldn't want them to look up to the man that is Brian Urlacher.
CrackerDog
I'm ecstatic if Peanut resigns, but to trash Urlacher is inappropriate. I could be wrong but I think he meant "man" in terms of a "Man of the Year" type of context. Related to how Nut is associated with all sorts of charities and cool stuff and Urlacher had sex with bimbos, etc. Again, that's how I read it. Your mileage may vary. EDIT: Just saw that he replied and confirmed what I thought he meant. Sorry for the duplication.

Or perhaps Jason was trying to make the comparison that because Urlacher was who he was ' on the field' so too was Tillman able to be who he was on the field. Regardless of what either is 'off the field' shouldn't mean one should be demeaned at the expense of the other. I'm just sayin' And you're telling me that you have an issue with "having sex with bimbos"?
CrackerDog
And you're telling me that you have an issue with "having sex with bimbos"? Ha, I'm almost 50. Bimbos have better options.
