adam
Looks like Kyle Long may make it as well: http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/bears-cb-t...&ocid=yahoo That would make 5. Really nice if Long makes it as a rook.

That'd be pretty sweet....Would counter balance,in my mind, the fact that Larry Warford was named PFFs offensive player of the year

scs787
Ya, in hindsight I would have loved to have gone Ogletree-Warford with the first 2 picks. But as was said back when it happened the Bears had no way of knowing he'd fall that far and if he was drafted they would have been up shits creek with what was left.....Long at LT wouldn't surprise me, but remember, Kromer runs things from the inside out so guard is actually more important on his OL. AZ54
Hard to believe we drafted a guy, an Olinemen no less, who went to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. In the most critical position we needed to hit on in the draft Emery did it, and did it well, even if most of us were saying WTF when he made the pick. He has had his misses in the draft, most notably Hardin (I'll say the book is still out on SMC as I think he is a good football player miscast as a DE), but when we signed him to be our new GM if anyone was asked if he'd be considered a success if he drafted a Pro Bowl player in each of his first two drafts (Jeffrey, Long) I can't think of anyone who would say no. We're doing something different than what we had done the previous 9 seasons.

Time will tell about how well he is at drafting, but he brought us , as you stated 2 pro bowlers and also, lets not forget, the Marshall trade. I give him a c+ so far. This year will go along way on telling us his expertise. I think the first year he had input from Lovie that may have affected his drafting, last year(still yet to define itself) was basically his first in my book. BearFan2000
Just read on my phone that Kyle Long will be going to the prow bowl. That's quite an honor for a rookie. Last Bears rookie to go to the pro bowl was Johnny Knox back in 2009, and last bears offensive rookie to go to a pro bowl was Gale Sayers many moons ago. Who'da thunk we'd send an offensive lineman to the pro bowl.
bowlingtwig
Compare him to Angelo and he already looks light years ahead. Angelo never had a non specialist rookie make the pro bowl.
scs787
A little late on the news mi amigo, it was posted in another thread...But this does deserve it's own thread so once again, congrats Long, hopefully it's the first of many. madlithuanian
Tillman, Harris and Briggs? Also brought in Peppers and Jennings I believe. Not to give JA that much credit, but I thought he drafted/signed those guys... Compare him to Angelo and he already looks light years ahead. CrackerDog
Tillman, Harris and Briggs? Also brought in Peppers and Jennings I believe. Not to give JA that much credit, but I thought he drafted/signed those guys... He did. JA's biggest problem, IMO, was his first round picks almost always flamed out. But I still give him credit for building a Superbowl team, a game we would've probably won if it weren't for us having Rex "Deer in the Headlights" Grossman at QB. PS. You forgot Forte. PSS. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the Bears have 5 guys in the Pro Bowl and the Pukers have 1.
madlithuanian
I simply think he had a good run in his first few years. Then it was all not so swell. Basically, right after the SB appearance, other than Forte (as you mention as I forgot him!) JA couldn't find much in the draft. Other mentionables: Cutler as a FA Vasher, who did well for a while. Even a broken clock is right twice a day... I'm not sure about the GB players for the pro bowl... He did. JA's biggest problem, IMO, was his first round picks almost always flamed out. AZ54
Tillman, Harris and Briggs? Also brought in Peppers and Jennings I believe. Not to give JA that much credit, but I thought he drafted/signed those guys... It took Tillman 9 seasons to get to the Pro Bowl and Briggs made it there on his 3rd season. Forte made the Pro Bowl in his 4th season. The only players he drafted that went to the Pro Bowl in their first or second season were Hester, Knox as returners. So I'll stand on my point that we haven't seen two players that are starters make the Pro Bowl on either their first or second season. Looking back Angelo really only hit on the 2003 (Tillman, Briggs, Wade, Gage) and 2004 (T. Harris, Berrian, Vasher) drafts, followed by 2008 (Forte, E. Bennett). http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/chi/draft.htm It is surprising how few of his draft picks stayed on the roster into their second contract. There is no expectation for everyone drafted to be a Pro Bowl player but I think we should end up with some solid players that will stick around for more than 3-4 seasons. My bad, I haven't been on here for a bit, kinda been tuned out to Bears news since there hasn't been much and life's been kinda busy. Hopefully it is the first of many, and that maybe some of his line mates will join him in future years. Kudos to Emery, Trestman, and Kromer for bringing in some fresh blood and vastly improved O-Line play.
