It almost seems like our first 4 rounds will come from those 2 groups with needs at Safety, DT, DE, and CB. It would be great to get all 4 players from the groups in bold. Safety seems to be the thinnest group, so Clinton-Dix in the first would seem to net the most value unless someone from the top 10 drops.

IMO, at this point, DE is thinner. A ton of the guys in bold are viewed as 3-4 LBs....IF they need a starting DE, and Ealy is there, that's my pick. (Yes, I've moved on from Donald after looking deeper at both the DE and DT class)

True, but we do not know what style of defense we are going to run, and I can't see investing in another DE in the 1st only 2 years removed from taking SMC. I know that technically doesn't matter because you fill a need with BPA, but I still think someone like Dix would be the biggest upgrade at any one position on the team.

So if Nix, Ealy, Jernigan, Dennard, and Dix are there at 14, you go with Ealy?

At this point? yes. CBS has him ranked above all the guys you listed sans Dennard, and CB is so deep that I think you could wait a round or 2 and still get a starting quality player.

I don't think SMC being drafted 2 years ago should hold any weight, esp. since he's apparently switching positions

Dix would be the biggest upgrade yes, but a guy like Ed Reynolds would also be a huge upgrade, whereas after Ealy(and Clowney) I just don't think there's a guy who will be a huge upgrade over SMC.

As for the style of defense, I actually like Ealy no matter the defense they play. He's big enough to play 4-3 DE, and he's explosive enough to play 3-4 OLB. If they run a hybrid then I think having a player like him would do so much for the D in the Rob Ninkovich role.

You make a lot of sense with your opinions. There are only 2 sure things IMO then its a crap shoot. I also like Martin and Murphy as being starters in there first year.

I read a little know fact but Smallwood/MLB/Con played under the coaching of Paul P. there new LBs coach. I wonder if he will push for us to draft the guy.

Lol you must have missed the Smallwood jokes that popped up on the board when Paul P was hired.

Maybe we'll draft him but I still remain skeptical on them moving Bostic to OLB...It could happen, but what happens if SMC beats him out for the job? are we really gonna sit our 2nd round draft pick from the previous year?

We need to add another MLB whether Bostic stays there or not.He will be a 3rd or 4th rounder. I never seen the Smallwood named mentioned before.

If they run 3-4 formations I would really hope Briggs gets pushed inside in those sets. In my ideal world this means SMC-Briggs-Bostic-Ealy in 3-4 formations.

One of the fastest players in this years draft is a FS Huff/Wyoming. Besides fast he can tackle lead the league he was in tackles.--127- thats huge.
