scs787
This will obviously help. Last year Phil managed to get Martellus, Bushrod, and Slausson all signed for a cap hit under 7M combined. Get that done again with 3 defensive players and it'd be a great start to rebuilding the D. So now the Bears have ~8M before cuts. If they cut the suspects we've been talking about (Pep, Bush, Weems, Pods, Earl) the cap number will be ~24M. Couple that with the ability to dip into Cutty, Jennings, and Slausson's contract, the possibility of an extension for Marshall, and the Bears could actually be in pretty good position. scs787
@ProFootballTalk Source: Salary cap will exceed $132 million this year, possibly by a few million . Throw at least 2M more into the pot.

Kind of funny tho, if they convert some of Jay's cap hit to bonus it opens up more money to spend. So really are they spending all that they can or not? The cap space always confuses, if the cap space is 132 what does that really mean. Only base salary counts towards the cap bonus doesn't? I'm sure they'll dip into it if they get guys agreeing to contracts and they need it. @AdamSchefter Salary cap projected to rise to about $133 million this year, expected to break $140 million next year and $150 million by 2016, per source Sets up a lot of back loading possibility.
