Alaskan Grizzly
Was just released. Would Chicago be able to use him? More importantly would he cost much? Ratliff and he reunited??
scs787
eh, he's wasn't that great of a fit when forced to play DE. Think he'll go somewhere to play OLB again

madlithuanian
He's an outside LB, DJ's an inside. It would be tossing Briggs or Bostic to the side to take on Ware in that capacity. I'm for it...boot Briggs and get Ware! If he did play LB I would prefer him any day over DJ Williams. Suppose that's too late now.

I'm for it...boot Briggs and get Ware! Im pretty sure Ware is an OLB for a 3-4, completely different than a OLB in a 4-3. In the 4-3 he was a DE. We cant get rid of Briggs when healthy he is still productive.
madlithuanian
Right...forgot about that wrinkle. We can get rid of Briggs. He's old, injury prone, and has a horrible attitude. I don't suggest cutting. Only trading. Im pretty sure Ware is an OLB for a 3-4, completely different than a OLB in a 4-3. In the 4-3 he was a DE. Guest TerraTor
Briggs is the only player on D Front7 that wasnt a joke last year and was always productive. Guys aren't paid to be nice and do Charity events.
DABEARSDABOMB
I really don't get how anyone can feel good about our LB core. We have two unprovens in Bostic/Shea and then DJ who has had major problems staying on the field. Our stalwart, Briggs, who I love a lot, is coming off an injury shortened campaign and is getting pretty old in football age himself. We have a massive hole at LB until proven otherwise, imo. madlithuanian
What to you call the tagic comedy of him watching that ball on the floor seeing GB pick it up for a score? He had plenty of bad tackle/angles last year besides that. So, you are wrong in thiking he was always productive. In fact, zero production on the sidelines watching due to age/injury... I could give a crap really about how nice he is. All I care is that our player isn't a leech and sucks the positive air out pining for the good ol days of Smith n Url... If he stays, I support him barring hearing facts that he is sobbotaging the team. But, I'm all for seeing what we can get. madlithuanian
I'm not happy. I want some young blood in there that can bring it. Exactly. DJ hasn't done much of anything the last two years. And as you pointed out Briggs has been turd-like for the better part of the last years. He appears to want to reunite with his friends. Maybe since some appear to be heading to TB perhaps a trade could be engineered? As far as having D. Ware play LB in different schemes I think he's proven rather versatile these last few years since playing (hand in the dirt) DE vs his "traditional" OLB. And so what if it were 3-4 vs 4-3? Something tells me the team is going to show hybrid versions of 3-4 AND 4-3 schemes next year... Maybe at the same time(?). And he has great leadership qualities (from what I hear) which would prove ideal for players like Bostic, McClellin and Greene.
